Chinatown Light Up 2010

By Patrick, January 24, 2010 9:37 am

Chinese New Year is about 3 weeks away and Chinatown is a definitely must go during this period of time. Its not about buying things there, but to enjoy the festive mood. It was the Chinese New Year Light Up on Saturday (23 January) and I thought, it was pretty disappointing.

I thought the organizers could have had performers that can engaged the audience, they should not concentrate the performances to just the stage area, if they want, they could have put up more screens for the crowd to watch. There were no fireworks, but just fire crackers and everyone just left after the fire crackers. I thought the lightings this year were simply boring and they actually recycled the God of Fortune that they used last year.

You will have to walk around the street bazaar to enjoy the festive mood. There are the usual mochi, dried food and Chinese New Year decorations.

Another perspective

By Patrick, October 10, 2009 11:49 pm

I’ve been taking pictures of Ethan and Ezanne and today, I was experimenting taking Ezanne with a brand new perspective, real close up shots. I thought the pictures turn out pretty well and well, I’ve only taken 3 shots of it. I shall try this new close up method with Ethan soon.

East Coast Park

By Patrick, September 6, 2009 12:16 am

Eversince I’ve gotten my DSLR, I’ve always wanted to find a day, walk around somewhere and take some really nice and good photos. Then when i bought my camera, I thought everything will turn out really well, like taking close up shots, then 1 day, I realised that I was actually wrong, I need to buy new lens for those extra close up shots. Anyway, I thought my photography skills is still amatuer at this stage and there’s still so much more room for improvement.

Anyway, talking about finding a day to walk around and take pictures, I’ve finally found that day, which is SATURDAY! I was supposed to meet my classmates for a short gathering at East Coast Lagoon Food Centre so I purposely arrive about 1 hour earlier (supposedly to be 2 hours, but I overslept) to go around East Coast to take pictures. What I can say is that alot has changed at East Coast, there is now an Xtreme Skate Park which was really impressive. I’ve seen kids as young as 5 to 6 years old doing skateboard stunts and rollerblading within the skate park, then there was a sandcastle workshop which was conducted by a company who had an office on the beach itself. Finally, there was the jet ski lagoon which looks interesting too.

Just before I met up with my friends, I took sometime on the beach and did something really special for my wife. She was not with me, but I thought, she should be touched by looking at the picture! It’s dedicated for you, my wife, Jingyi.

Marina Bay Sands

By Patrick, June 1, 2009 11:44 pm

Walking out of the balcony of our room at Fullerton Hotel and we see the 3 hotel towers of Marina Bay Sands. It is still pretty much works in progress but when we pass by the area, Jingyi and I were discussing that it brought back so much memories. In fact, we had our wedding photo shoots just months before the government award the site to Las Vegas Sands for the IR project. The area has transformed drastically.

“Say Cheese!”

On Friday night, Ethan told me that he wanted to take some pictures, so I quickly went to take out the camera, and Ethan started to pose on the bed. I would say each time when he sees the camera, he will start posing naturally and like some people mention, really professional.

I’ve got my first SLR camera

By Patrick, May 2, 2009 9:13 am

I’ve finally got my first SLR camera, its Canon EOS 500D. It comes with full HD video capturing at well. It was really a good deal after comparing it with one my colleague who bought it previously. For free gift, I’ve got 2×8gb memory card, card reader, extra battery, bag, tripod, screen protector and screen filter.

Why I want a SLR camera? I’ve been having problem capturing pictures of Ethan and Ezanne cause they are almost moving about and can’t stay still when taking pictures. Secondly, I just fall in love with those pictures that I’ve seen that were taken using SLR camera.

At the moment, I’m still charging the batteries and will post the first few shots that I’ve taken soon. Oh by the way, when you buy a Canon camera, it comes with a 2hr training course that is conducted at no cost by Canon.
