Ethan loves to sing and suddenly today, he just took my iPhone and recorded his own singing. I can’t remember if I’ve ever thought him how to use the recording function of the phone, but he just know which app it was, touch it, sing it and recorded it. Today marks a significant milestone for Ethan as he has just learnt another new thing. He was so amazed by the recording that he kept asking me to play it immediately the recording has completed.
Ever since his new discovery, he have been recording non stop using the iPhone. I’m thinking whether should I start an online podcast for him called, “The Ethan Show!” Worth trying out I guess and let him explore more through his own voice. If you have not heard him sing, you can hear it in the clip below. I’ve converted it into a short photo montage.
If you like Ethan, you can be a fan of his on Facebook.
Its Chinese New Year eve and its a day which I’ve been looking forward to. After a busy and hectic year, finally its time to take a break and do a stock take of what had happened over the past year and how to move things on for the following. Chinese New Year is a time to gather and bond with family and that’s the reason why I make it a point every year, we will have a set of family outfit. Regardless how difficult it is, I’ll make sure that we will find a set of family outfit, well, this could be something that the Pang family is doing…
Reunion dinner is also a must have during Chinese New Year eve. Our reunion dinner is made up of a combination of home cooked food and food bought by my aunties. Its definitely a sumptuous one but I thought, it was really early that we had it, it was 5pm when we had our dinner.
After getting back home, surprisingly, there was lion dance. Quickly took Ethan out to take alook at it, since it is his favourite. While they were preparing, Ethan literally had a hands on experience on the drum!
Its about 8 minutes more to the first day of Chinese New Year, 恭喜发财.
This was the first time all of us attended the Singapore Airshow 2010. While I’m in the midst of shifting office, I still managed to find some time to bring Ethan to the airshow to look at big jumbo jets and helicopters.
I read in the papers that travelling to Changi Exhibition Centre (CEC) was a big problem in 2008 but for Singapore Airshow 2010, it was definitely not a problem. We arrived at Changi Airport Terminal 3, took the shuttle service, which we didn’t have to wait at all and arrived at CEC within 15 minutes. At the CEC itself, there were at least 20 walk-thru metal detectors.
If I was to attend Singapore Airshow 2012, one thing that I will definitely bring is mineral water. Each bottle of mineral water sold at the airshow was $2, its like daylight robbery. There were long queues everywhere whenever there was a photo opportunity with the jets. Well, Ethan had the opportunity to take pictures with the pilot too!
The aerial display was rather disappointing. I thought I could see more than 1 fighter jet at least flying pass each other and doing some stunts, but sadly, it was only 1 fighter jet and 1 helicopter, simply not interesting at all. It was literally planes flying around.
Though it was slightly boring for me, but I’m glad Ethan enjoyed himself as he managed to see the big jets (that’s what Ethan says usually when he sees aeroplane.
I’ve just created a fan page of Ethan and Ezanne. It was first created a few months back when I was exploring Facebook. But due to my busy work schedules back then, I did not continue with it until today. So what’s at the fan page? It will consists of all their updates in their growing up years, photos, videos, basically its anything and everything. Once in awhile, I’ll get Ethan to say a few words and will help him to post, until such time when he is able to do it himself. And for Ezanne, I’ll help her to post on her behalf when I can figure out what she wants to say.
Personally I thought creating the fan page to track their growing up years is so much easier to maintain as compared to creating a blog for them. In case you missed out of any updates, I’ve linked the fan page with my Twitter account, so to make sure that you doesn’t miss anything
How do you become a fan of them? Just go to their fan page and click on Become A Fan.
Ethan has gotten his first gift for the New Year. He is now a proud owner of a digital owner which I bought for him while we were on our way back from Sydney, well, I bought the camera from the SIA’s Krisflyer Shop.
Since last year, I’ve observed that Ethan loves to taking pictures and would want to borrow the digital camera from his mum. So I’ve always been keeping a lookout for a camera that is suitable for kids. This camera that I’ve got for him is a basic digital camera which only has the click function. No zoom, no viewing of pictures taken.
So far, Ethan has used up the capacity of the camera and I shall download the pictures and upload a few here to show you.
After a pretty much relax day previously, we joined a day tour to Port Stephen. The tour was conducted by APT, which is quite a reputable one in Sydney, but of course, being efficient and reliable comes at a cost too, its slightly more expensive than the usual day tour group. Our first stop was Australian Reptile Park where we got to see the different types of reptiles in Australia, feel the Kolas and feed the kangaroo. We were all really excited, especially feeling the Kolas and Ethan was not even afraid of the Kolas and enjoyed the short span of time with it.
Ethan even enjoyed feeding the kangaroos and the ducks. This will be one of the rare opportunities that he will get to feed kangaroos and ducks.
After visiting the reptile park, we headed to Port Stephen for dolphin viewing. It was a rather disappointing trip as we were not able to get a clear view of the dolphins and whenever our ferry tried to get close to it, they just swam away. But for Ethan, hestill managed to try to navigate the ferry.
After the dolphin viewing, we headed for our last stop, SANDBOARDING at Anna Bay. We tried the 4 wheel drive which brought us to this desert like place, or maybe its a desert, to try out sandboarding. The sky was blue, the sand was white, basically, the place was BEAUTIFUL!
Ethan was with me and we shared a board. We tried twice while mummy only tried once and Ethan really enjoyed himself and was pretty naughty. He was supposed to hold on to my legs when he suddenly let go mid-way which gave me a shock. Luckily, I was able to stop in time and get him to hold on tight to my legs again. Though we had sands in our pockets and slippers, we really had an enjoyable day.
Day 6 of our Sydney Trip saw us visiting Darling Harbour ourselves, since my cousin gotta work. We went to LG IMAX Theatre to watch the 3D movie Under the Sea, which was narrated by Jim Carey. The show itself was about 1 hour, inclusive of 20 minutes of advertisments and Ethan only managed to watch the first 5 minutes and last 5 minutes of the show cause he fell asleep.
After the movie, we walk around at Darling Harbour. Like any other harbour and wharfs that we see in other parts of Sydney, Darling Harbour is simply beautiful.
After that, we took the monorail and toured Sydney City Centre. Subsequently, we stopped at Chinatown when we didn’t know where exactly we wanted to go to, and guess where we ended, at my cousin’s workplace!
When you are in Sydney and is interested to find out what’s happening at Darling Harbour, you can find out from Twitter.
Both Jingyi and I had a breath taking experience on our fourth day of our Sydney trip, but it was 2 different kind. For me, I guess my Sydney trip has been a fulfilling one as I’ve managed to climb to the summit of Sydney Harbour Bridge. According to official sources, I’ve climbed 1439 steps on the bridge and personally I thought this was an amazing acheivement. Being able to be so high up and looking at the amazing scenary of Sydney, it was simply unbelievable and defintely a memorable one for me. I almost wanted to give up at first, cause it was about 3.5 hours and the worst thing was, I was doing it all alone with all the people whom I doesn’t know. My team had 14 climbers (excluding the guide) and they were from US, Belgium and Australia. This will defintely be the best birthday present my wife have given me.
On the other hand, while waiting for me to complete the climb, Jingyi and my cousin visited Pylon, which is another attraction of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Well, I was told by them that Ethan suddenly became really home sick and was really difficult to manage. He wanted Jingyi to carry him all the way, which means all the way down from the Pylon and thereafter, and even wanted to pee!
So while I was trying hard to conquer the bridge, my family members waiting for me were trying to conquer Ethan…
Other than the bridge, we visited the Fish Market which have all sorts of fresh seafood and I promise I’m going back next Sunday to bring back some seafood for my parents. They have lotsa of variety, just take alook at the picture below of my cousin making an order.
And for the first time in our trip, I’ve managed to capture a really nice night view of Sydney. Its really beautiful.
In the meantime, if you want to know what we are doing in Sydney, you can view it at my Twitter account. I’ll tweet whenever I can (I mean if I can find a free wifi hotspot). Otherwise, the photo albums are available at Facebook.
The 3rd day of our trip brings us to Sydney’s The Train Shed at one of Sydney’s remote place @ Vicary’s Winery, The Northern Rd, 2km South of Luddenham, New South Wales. They have had Thomas train ride over there which we believe Ethan will defintely enjoy himself. Yes, we were right, Ethan enjoyed himself as we got him a AUS$25 unlimited train ride. You’ll be surprise that Ethan actually knows all the Thomas The Train characters and the best thing was, he took had the train rides on the available characters.
The train shed was surrounded by farms, stables, wineary and plantation. When we took the ride, we were able to get quite close to the horses and cows, its not like a typical zoo concept, but its just that they happen to pass by us. Ethan was really excited after seeing them.
Transport is really important if you are going to such places and it will be good if you have your own transport. For us, we took the public transport, the taxi, which we had a problem to go and return back to the main train station. When we were going, the taxi driver was unsure about the where the place was, but luckily, he still brought us to where we wanted to go (otherwise, there won’t be these pictures). When we want to return back to the train station, we booked a cab but waited for more than an hour before it came. The reason, the first driver that was assigned to us simply didn’t know the way and did not want to accept the booking and the taxi company had to reassign the booking to another driver.
Due to the delay, we had not much option left when we reached Westfield. Most of the shops were closed. Jingyi and my cousin ended up with fish and chips while I had McDonalds. So how does the shopping mall looks like at 6.30pm (Sydney time)? Take alook at the picture below.
We ended our day with more crazy photo taking at a closed shopping mall. Anyway, I’ve just decided what I want to get Ethan for Christmas. Its a secret now and you’ll know it on Christmas itself.
According to my cousin, weather can be pretty much unpredictable here in Sydney and we experience it outselves on the second day of our trip. It was super hot yesterday with flies flying around us, this morning, we woke up to a really cooling day with some slight drizzle.
We woke up alittle later today and some of the plans got to be changed. Instead of taking the Bondi Explorer and visit Manly Beach, we only visited Manly Beach which also brings us to their aquarium, Ocean World. Personally I thought taking the ferry from Circular Quay was breath taking as we saw the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge.
For the first time, other than seeing it in cartoon, I’ve see sea gulls at Manly Beach. Take alook at the picture below and see if you can spot a one legged sea gull.
We visited Ocean World, which was somewhat like our Underwater World and personally I thought, its slightly smaller than our Underwater World with less variety of fish on display. Then we walked down to Corsy Beach and I’m simply impres with those people who were surfing even during such low temparatures.
So tomorrow, we will be bringing Ethan to see Thomas The Train. He is getting excited for it and will defintely post some pictures here tomorrow.
