Finally, after seeing a sea of red yesterday, I’ve managed to clear all my emails and backlog work today. The best thing at work today was receiving a surprise email which will most probably be a motivation from now till June and I hope it will really come true as there are some positive signs. You want to know the answer? Well, you will know it in due course.
I’ve been at where I am for about 3 months now, but frankly speaking, I hasn’t really settle down. I’ve been taking leave, busy with some ad-hoc stuff, moving of office from Location X to Location Y and then back to taking my exam leave again. I hope at least for the next few months, I’ll be able to concentrate and spend alittle more time at work, though, over the past 2 months, there have been many instances where I stayed beyond the normal working hours in office.
I love what I’m doing now but its really different from what I’ve been doing previously, something which I’m still trying to learn and pick up. That’s all for now.
This got to be the weekend that I’ve spent the most money, not that I’ve not spent money previously. On Saturday, I discovered that Bobby, my dog, was attacked by ticks. It was really terrible as you can see the ticks on this body and whenever I tried to get rid of it, it just seems never ending. I quickly send him to vet where he stayed there one night for “holiday”. I’m glad that he is recovering, though there are still some of him (we’ve spotted some), but with the proper guidance given, I’m sure he will be tick free soon.
Then on Sunday, Ethan was happily recording on my iPhone. He got so excited that my phone “flew”, landed on the floor and guess what, there was a really bad crack (spider web kind). The touch screen was still alright, but the glass thingy just shattered. What was the damage like, $350 and I’ve got a one to one exchange at Starhub Service Centre. Oh and by the way, did I tell you that its so good to be a Starhub Platinum Customer? It just took me 20 minutes (from registration to exchanging the phone) to complete the entire process.
There are still carparks that are still cashcardless (if there is such a word). I attended a wedding dinner with wifey tonight at Holiday Inn Hotel and I can tell you, for a moment, I thought I was in JB. First, there were no scanners reading the IU and we were supposed to press for a ticket to enter the carpark.
And they were signages that says that reminded us to pay at the machine before exiting. I’m just simply surprised that there are still such carparks around.
Ethan loves to sing and suddenly today, he just took my iPhone and recorded his own singing. I can’t remember if I’ve ever thought him how to use the recording function of the phone, but he just know which app it was, touch it, sing it and recorded it. Today marks a significant milestone for Ethan as he has just learnt another new thing. He was so amazed by the recording that he kept asking me to play it immediately the recording has completed.
Ever since his new discovery, he have been recording non stop using the iPhone. I’m thinking whether should I start an online podcast for him called, “The Ethan Show!” Worth trying out I guess and let him explore more through his own voice. If you have not heard him sing, you can hear it in the clip below. I’ve converted it into a short photo montage.
If you like Ethan, you can be a fan of his on Facebook.
Today is the 8th time I’ve attempted my IPPT today. This has broken my all time record cause the last time, I’ve only attempted twice. I seriously doesn’t know what is happening, I’ve been doing regular training and even took supplements that was recommended, but it seems useless.
It is really stressful not able to make it through and like I mention in Facebook, my M&M is getting lower. What is M&M? It is Morale and Motivation. With just 4 more weeks to go before the end of FY, which I need to complete, there is even more stress on me that I need to clear it.
I was quite surprised when I saw the advertisement at KFC that they are selling egg tarts, Portuguese egg tarts to be exact. I tweeted and got to find out from my friends that KFC has claimed that they’ve got the original recipe for the egg tarts and it tasted really good.
Since I can’t resist the temptation and my dad was on his way to Eastpoint where this is KFC, I told him to get me one so that I could try it. The verdict, its taste is acceptable considering that they are selling fried chickens and not pastries like egg tarts. Personally, I thought that the crust was alittle to thick (maybe that’s their way of having less egg).
You can give it a try if you want to cause I thought its worth trying. On a comical side, I just thought of this sentence, “They can’t even let the chicks off by selling egg tarts!” So now, KFC is a full fledge chicken selling fast food restaurant.
For the past 2 years since Chingay Parade moved from Orchard Road to Marina Bay, I’ve always been part of the workforce, helping to ensure that the Parade will run smoothly. This year, it is something special, I was part of the audience, taking part in the parade and enjoying every bits of it. My cousin was back from Australia for CNY holidays and I thought that this was the best time for us to meet and enjoy the parade with her and Ethan.
This is the first time that the parade is held at the F1 Pit Building and its interesting to see how the organizers mark out the F1 tracks into 4 lanes. The parade started with the the firecrackers dragon and it was amazing that Ethan was able to bear with the noise level made by the firecrackers. Being seated on the first row, we were able to see first hand, the lighting up of the firecrackers and getting near to the firecrackers.
Subsequent performances were engaging and the floats were really nice. We even got 2 packets of New Moon Rice as free gifts, given out by the performers. Personally, I thought that a parade needs to have an impactful music with dancers etc and not slow moving performances like the one titled Yellow River. It was too slow and boring and everyone didn’t really appreciate it.
Near the finale, it was the appearance of the Universal Studios float from Resorts World @ Sentosa and Ethan was really excited seeing Kungfu Panda and some of the other cartoon characters.
The fireworks were fantastic too. At least, all of us enjoy the show and the verdict for Chingay Parade 2011, WE WILL BE THERE! I hope the organizers managed to read this post and hopefully, give me free tickets next year.
Both Part 1 and Part 2 of the photos are available at my facebook account.
The EXAM Fever is ON! This is my final semester but I don’t know why, as compared to my previous 2 exams, I seriously can’t concentrate much. Frankly speaking, I’ve only started my reading on Saturday night. How do I concentrate when I was watching CNN, following the earthquake news in Chile? The worst thing was I only realised that its an open book exam only TODAY! Ok, all this while, I thought it was a close book exam.
I’ve got to go back to office in the morning to settle some work in the morning, so I hope I’ll be able to do some final read up when I get back home. Then on Wednesday, just before my exams at night, I’m going for my IPPT.
With so much things going on, I just hope that I’ll be able to pass my exams. Its the final one before I move on to the next chapter of my studies, please pray for me and wish me luck.
Wifey was not happy with the answer and said that I should say Yes and not say Yah. I thought Yah and Yes had the same meaning, but wifey doesn’t agree. Anyway, the girls on my Twitter list has responded.
10 years ago, you will never dream of a theme park like Universal Studios coming to Singapore. What you will think of is to buy an air ticket to Hong Kong or Tokyo Disneyland during the June or December holidays with your children or if you have more money to spare, maybe you can bring your family to US.
10 years later, when you alight at Sentosa’s Waterfront Station, you will step into Resorts World @ Sentosa, a new tourist destination that has Southeast Asia’s only Universal Studio and Singapore’s first casino. The place where the former Sentosa ferry terminal used to be is now a place thriving with activities. Even though the resort is not fully completed, you still get to see lotsa of tourists moving about. There were street performers whom I thought could be more engaging and more exciting and more variety.
On the way to the Casino, you will see shops of luxury brands like Cartier and Coach. Then you will pass by a passageway which for a moment, I thought I was at Resorts World Genting.
There was a sneak preview for Universal Studios which tickets were sold out and we couldn’t get the chance to enter to take alook. But we still manage to visit the Chocolate Factory by Hershey’s which was just next to it. Well, there were quite a number of different chocolates on sale and just to warn you, prepare to burn a hole in your pocket.
The place is in my opinion, not really ready yet. Most of the shops are either empty or under renovations. Based on the notices I saw, the best time to go is from April onwards when the shops and the theme park is opened. For now, unless you are going to try your lady luck at the casino, otherwise, you will probably spend an hour before moving off to your next destination. But I reckon, I’ll be back again maybe for my wife’s birthday.
