Can I slim down during CNY?

By Patrick, February 7, 2010 10:03 pm

I think the answer is a definite NO! All thanks to myself for buying so many CNY goodies and of course, my aunties who got us some too. Its really tempting just by looking at it and I just want to try alittle of everything. Before I forget, I finish up a small bottle of pineapple tarts within 3 days after I bought it from the canteen. It has about 50 of them, my colleagues took 5 and I ate the rest.

I’m save to say that WE ARE READY FOR CNY (I mean in terms of the food lah)! If you need some recommendations of delicious CNY goodies, drop me a comment and I’ll share it with you.

We have started the official countdown to Chinese New Year. So excited, 7 more days to go.

Starhub TVB Awards = I’ve see myself

By Patrick, February 6, 2010 1:15 am

Starhub has finally posted the official photographs for the 1st Starhub TVB Awards. I was surfing and checking out the photographs when I realise that I’m on one of the photo. Even more surprising, I just cannot believe that there were so many people behind me.

You can view the full set of official photos at Starhub website.

Our yearly CNY Chinatown Shopping

By Patrick, February 4, 2010 12:17 am

Yes, I’ve been there during the opening, but on Saturday, I was back at Chinatown with my family. Its an annual thingy that we visit Chinatown before CNY, its just to get the festive feel that Chinese New Year is just round the corner. This year is special cause its Ezanne’s first visit with us. Ethan was getting really excited about this trip cause he was told by his grandfather that there would be lion dance. We had early dinner and started walking down the streets.

There seems to be less variety of CNY stuff this year and I’m not too sure why they are selling mushrooms in almost every streets? In terms of the decoration, its really simple or maybe should I just say, its a sloppy job. The decorations were actually put up just days before the official lightup, so that’s how last minute it was.

I am now wondering if I should go again on CNY Eve, which I’ve been doing for the past 2 years. You can view the full set of pictures on my Facebook.

A record breaking month…

By Patrick, February 2, 2010 12:01 am

January is a record breaking month for the blog and my tweets. In another sign that I’m really “free”, I’ve just made a record number of tweets, well, these stats are generated based on the number of new tweets, RTs and replies. So for January, I’ve made 662 tweets!

As for the blog, because of the Starhub TVB Awards photos and videos that I’ve posted, there were 2868 visitors for January, the highest since I’ve started this blog and on 30 January, the one day visitorship was 1328.

I just want to thank everyone for their support and of course, I’ll continue to blog cause it has become a way of my life.

1st Starhub TVB Awards

By Patrick, January 30, 2010 1:13 am

Its the 1st time Starhub organizes the Starhub TVB Awards, my first time attending an award ceremony and first time coming face to face with the Hong Kong actors and actresses. There are 12 TVB artistes who attended the award ceremony including their Steven Chen. Instead of the usual red carpet, Starhub has the carpet in green colour, obviously, its to suit their company’s official colour.

We were told to reach at 6.30pm and registration was a breeze. The actual “green carpet” show started at about 7.30pm and security was really tight. I even got pushed several times by the inconsiderate security who actually hit my camera lens. Anyway, the actors and actresses appeared in pairs and they included our favourites like Raymond Lam, Charmine Seah, Susanna Kwan, Sonja Kwok etc.

The actual show then started with the usual dance and performance with Susanna Kwan singing a LIVE version of 讲不出的心声. There were breaks in between for us to consume our 4 course western dinner. I personally thought the security was really tight, so much so, the security were so sensitive to the people around, asking guests to leave when they were trying to take pictures of their idol. There were no photo opportunities for the guests to take with their favourite actor or actress. BUT, I’ve got my fair share of close encounter, I actually went into the toilet at the same time as Moses Chan. But I didn’t have much to say cause I was caught by surprise!

Basically, everyone who attended brought back at least 1 award. Other than that, 杨怡 Tavia Yeung and 李司棋 Louise Lee both got an award. I believe everyone is interested with the results and here they are;
My Favourite TVB Actress:  佘诗曼 Charmaine Sheh
My Favourite TVB Actor: 林峰 Raymond Lam
My Favourite TVB Female Character: 荷妈 (李司棋饰)《溏心风暴之家好月圆》, 孙皓月 (杨怡饰) 《溏心风暴之家好月圆》, 钟笑莎/Sa姨 (关菊英饰)《溏心风暴之家好月圆》, 甘咏庆 (陈法拉饰)《溏心风暴之家好月圆》,邢晶晶 (郭羡妮饰) 《古灵精探》, 马帼英 (佘诗曼饰)《法证先锋II》
My Favourite TVB Male Character: 管家仔 (林峰饰)《溏心风暴之家好月圆》, 甘永家 (陈豪饰)《溏心风暴之家好月圆》, 柴九 (黎耀祥饰)《巾帼枭雄》, 于子朗 (郭晋安饰)《古灵精探》, 谢皇上 (马浚伟饰)《秀才爱上兵》
My Favourite TVB Drama 2009: 《溏心风暴之家好月圆》Moonlight Resonance
My Favourite TVB Variety 2009: 志云饭局 Be My Guest (TVBJ)
My All Time Favourite TVB Female Character: 好姨 (薛家燕饰)《真情》
My All Time Favourite TVB Male Character: 丁常旺 (郭晋安饰)《戆夫成龙》
My All Time Favourite TVB Drama: 《金枝欲孽》War And Beauty

The show ended with a toast of success followed by a group photo of the artistes and Starhub Senior Management.

If you did not attend the award, you can still watch the show on Starhub TV Channel 55 on 14 February @ 7.45pm.

For those who of you who are interested in saving the photos and posting it elsewhere, appreciate you can credit the blog. I’ve came across several sites which are irresponsible and shamelessly claim that the pictures were taken by them. For those who have credited, THANK YOU!

Lastly, all 325 pictures that I’ve taken has been uploaded in the gallery.

Starhub TVB Awards

By Patrick, January 29, 2010 12:20 am

The countdown has begin and in less than 19 hours, I’ll be attending the Starhub TVB Awards. I’m getting really excited, though I might be abit late for the event as I’ll be rushing down from Choa Chu Kang to Ritz Carlton. Stay tuned for the pictures and some of my exclusive insights for the event. In case you are wondering how I got the tickets, well, Starhub had a competition for their platinum club members, I submitted my interest and then I won the tickets.

Special mention by Yesterday.sg on Twitter

By Patrick, January 27, 2010 11:53 pm
I was surprised to see Yesterday.sg posting a link to my blog post on my visit to Chinatown. Well, I’ve actually drop by their site and left a comment that I’ve made a post about my visit to Chinatown and didn’t expect them to broadcast to everyone via Twitter about it.

So what is Yesterday.sg all about? It is a website that talks about the heritage of Singapore and provides updates to the different heritage exhibitions going on at our museums.

If you’ve missed the post on my visit to Chinatown, you can still read it here.
